New-To-Me CAL roundup

The New-To-Me theme challenged participants to try a PlanetJune design they’d never made before and the result is a small but lovely roundup! (Don’t forget to keep reading to the end for the upcoming CAL details – we’re doing something a little different this time…)

Free-For-All CAL roundup

Today’s the last day of the extended summer CAL – it’s interesting to see which of the 150 PlanetJune patterns were most popular this summer 🙂

Take a look at the roundup below to see all the entries (and don’t forget to keep reading to the end for the September CAL details…)

Fruit-Along CAL roundup

It’s important to me that PlanetJune CALs are always inclusive and supportive, no matter your skill level or how much time you can afford to spend: you can enter with your first ever attempt at crochet, or if you’ve been crocheting for decades; with a quick pic you snapped on your phone, or with a beautifully-composed photo you spent ages setting up to perfection.

Crochet-alongs are supposed to be fun, and an enjoyment of crocheting is the only requirement to join a PlanetJune CAL! If you’ve been too shy to join in until now, I hope you’ll reconsider – I can guarantee you’ll be met with support and encouragement if you do 🙂 (If you’re interested, see the end of this post for details of the next CAL…)

Now for this month’s roundup! We added a last-minute bonus Fruit-Along CAL for July, to include all my fruity patterns:

These one-piece patterns are so quick to work up that almost everyone couldn’t stop at just one or two and made lovely fruit collections! Take a look:

Reptiles & Amphibians CAL roundup

The Reptiles & Amphibians CAL included all my dinosaur, lizard, turtle and frog patterns:

I don’t think we quite have one example of each design included in the roundup below, but it’s pretty close – there’s a lovely variety of animals, colours, and pattern modifications to enjoy 🙂

Now, roundup time! (And don’t forget to keep reading to the end for the next CAL details…)

May Flowers CAL roundup

The May Flowers CAL included all my botanical patterns: flowers, plants and fruit. As you’ll see below, the clear winner for ‘most popular pattern’ this month was my African Violets – the first potted plant I ever designed!

Forgotten Gems CAL roundup

The Forgotten Gems CAL featured an eclectic mix of some of my more neglected designs:

With no fast (or free) patterns on offer, I knew there’d be fewer entries than usual, but we’re definitely looking at quality, not quantity this month – looking at the photos below makes me a very proud designer!

And it’s interesting to see that, with all that choice, there were some definite themes running through the CAL – surprise favourites have been Aardvarks and Yetis & Bigfoots, as well as lots of Chunky Elegance Rugs made into surprisingly beautiful doilies (just use crochet thread and a steel hook if you’d like to try making one too).

Now, roundup time! (And don’t forget to keep reading to the end for the May CAL details…)

Spring/Easter CAL roundup

This month we celebrated the return of spring, and Easter for those who observe it, with a special prize CAL featuring all my spring-themed designs. There were so many beautiful entries – looking through all these bunnies and flowers certainly make me feel springlike (even though it’s autumn here)! I participated myself with a new version of an old pattern (Fuzzy Chicks) and a brand new design (Shamrocks):
