A PlanetJune coral reef and ocean life crochet-along!

Instructions +

Here's how to join the Under the Sea 2026 CAL:

Overview

  • Make any PlanetJune patterns related to ocean life, beaches or summer between Jun 21 and Aug 31 2026.
    • Browse all the core reef-related patterns here >>
    • Looking for project inspiration? Get ideas here >>
    • There are no strict rules for this CAL, so you're welcome to get creative with your pattern choices (e.g. sunhat, summery bracelet, beach blanket, whale, dolphin) - if you can justify why your pattern or project fits the theme, it counts. WIPs are allowed, and so is assembling a display using pieces you've already made.
  • Submit a photo of each individual piece as you finish it, so we can tally your progress and awards! (Tip: Every piece counts - if you're making 3 of the same fish, that's three projects for the Individual Finished Pieces Gallery!)
  • If you combine multiple pieces into a larger display (like a diorama, mobile, or anything else you want), please also submit your best photo of the final piece when you've finished it, so we can showcase your work in the Displays Gallery.

How to Participate

Submit each finished piece or display through the online form as you complete it. I'll award your medals and add your projects to the galleries!

For the fullest experience, join in the fun in one of the PlanetJune Community groups. Look for the Under the Sea CAL 2026 thread on Ravelry or the #under-the-sea-cal channel on Discord.

Questions?

  • If you're participating via Discord or Ravelry, ask in the group and one of our friendly group members will help you asap.
  • Otherwise, shoot me an email (june@planetjune.com) with any questions and I'll be happy to help you out!

Awards +

As you submit projects to the galleries, you'll automatically receive awards below your username for each project you complete:
  • 1 your project count - one per submitted project!
  • Fish for making a fish or seahorse
  • Coral for making a coral
  • Cephalopod for making a cephalopod (octopus, squid, cuttlefish, nautilus)
  • Bubbles for making any PJ project that doesn't fit into any of the above categories
  • Trophy for making a bigger project from individual pieces
How many awards can you collect over the summer?!
