crocheted poinsettia

Continuing my poinsettia theme from last winter, I thought I’d try crocheting one amigurumi-style (i.e. worked in single crochet in the round). I crocheted each leaf and petal individually and then assembled all 19 pieces at the end:

The finished piece is about 6.5″ in diameter. I also designed a simpler version with only one row of petals and smaller leaves. I can write up and post the patterns for both, if anyone is interested?

I’m entering my poinsettia flower in the Holiday Softie Awards – wish me luck!

I think you did a great job! I would love to see the pattern. I wish you the best of luck with the softies. It would be neat if you could use thread to create them and have it as a small pin. Then you could use the varigated colors to make the marble flowers.

I would love to see the pattern for this – especially as I’m trying to make a box full of christmas tree decorations this year for my first proper Christmas in my new home. This poinsettia would make a lovely decoration – or even an original alternative to present rosettes.

Best of luck with the contest!

Good luck, it’s super awesome; but I know how big the competition is! I love all of the detail, it’s so pretty! I’d love to get patterns for them, as I’m needing a few smaller projects to get me motivated on Fuzzy Lamb again!
