fantastic mr fox

I was going to wait until the pattern was ready before posting, but I just can’t resist giving you a teaser – sometimes a design just magically comes together, and this was one of those times. The pieces all looked okay, but it was only when I stitched it all together that his personality popped out and I knew I had a real cunning fox on my hands:

Foxy tail!

I’m making a variant now, and then I’ll write up the pattern. If you’d like to be notified when it’s available, sign up for my mailing list.

I’m really happy with his colouring. I’d love to know what you think of him though – please leave me a comment and let me know!

Oh my gosh! I have toys my grandma crocheted for me as a kid that are brushed. She’s had her craft store for 40 years. I now have to dig into our old things and see what to make. 🙂
    Thanks!

Thank you, everyone! Did you know that there’s a Fantastic Mr Fox movie about to come out?! I swear I had no idea when I titled my post – I was thinking of the classic Roald Dahl book! Isn’t that funny? By the way, the movie looks like it’s going to be great – check out the trailer!

Puglette: your wool comment prompted my to try some brushed crochet testing… See the next post for my results!

I love it June! I agree with the others, the tail is awesome! I also really like the white on the tip of his tail and on his chest, it adds so much detail. Even the look on his face is that of a sly fox. Great job, as always! 🙂

i keep thinking about your little fox, he is so sweet, the face with the pointy nose reminds me of our non-pug, honey. my husband calls her pointy nose a crevice tool, she can get it into the small spaces the pugs can’t. i didn’t know that all the brushed patterns i see are with wool, i don’t use it because i have a lanolin allergy and i worry about that.

He’s so adorable! You know, I picked my blog name because my Ginger looks so much like a fox, and they’re crafty – hence, Crafty Ginger!

I’d love to see a brushed tail version, as long as there aren’t hounds after him!!! LOL (Oh yeah, they outlawed fox hunts, yeay!) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_hunting (And here in the US, they’re not even hunts, but chases!)

Thank you all! Puglette, I’m sensitive to wool so I always use acrylic yarns, and acrylic yarn and brushing don’t mix! But brushing the tail is already written in my pattern notes as an option for wool yarn 🙂
