faux granite stones

I made these polymer clay faux granite rocks last week. They were originally intended to be stones for the base of my artificial bonsai, but I decided they weren’t quite right for that project. I just sanded them quickly with my homemade detail sander to get my fingerprints off. (The size of each stone is about 1 or 2cm.)

Thank you, Jennifer! I’m afraid this was a spur-of-the-moment project, several years ago, and I don’t really remember exactly how I did it.

I do know that I mixed up several stoney shades to work with. I think I shredded some into tiny pieces and pushed them into the surface of others, then smushed and marbled it all together to blend it – the trick is to stop playing with it before all the variation in colour disappears!

    I hope that helps a little – I’m sorry I can’t be more precise…

Your stones are fabulous. Could you explain how you created them? I would love to make them.
