The Moon is an original punchneedle embroidery pattern by June Gilbank.

This 7-page pattern includes full instructions and traceable patterns to make a 5" diameter punchneedle embroidery in four different colour schemes: Purple Moon, Sepia Moon, Blue Moon, and Harvest Moon.

Supplies required:

  • Punchneedle (size medium)
  • Punchneedle threader
  • 6" Lip-lock embroidery hoop
  • Weavers cloth or another suitable backing fabric
  • Small, sharp embroidery scissors
  • Fine marker pen
  • Embroidery floss

This pattern includes a list of all the DMC floss colours required to complete the design exactly as pictured in all four colour schemes (colour names and numbers) and the Anchor equivalent colours (numbers). Feel free to customize the design with your own colour substitutions if desired!

The pattern also includes preparation and punching instructions, and finishing techniques. Please note that the sample moon shown here was punched onto a light-coloured fabric, and then glued as an applique onto a dark background (applique instructions are given in the pattern).
