Buy both the realistic Snake Collection pattern and the fun Temperature Snake CAL pattern by June Gilbank.
Snake Collection includes 4 different snake designs with markings loosely based on real-life non-venomous snakes:
- Unmarked (single colour) e.g. Green Snake, Black Snake
- Dual-Banded (two-colour stripes) e.g. Ground Snake, Kingsnake
- Tri-Banded (three-colour stripes) e.g. Milk Snake, Kingsnake
- Spotted (diamond-shaped blotches or patches of colour) e.g. Corn Snake, Rat Snake
(For more details, see the Snake Collection listing.)
Temperature Snake is an amigurumi-style riff on the temperature blanket/scarf, where you crochet one row per day to represent the maximum temperature that day. You can read all about the 2023 PlanetJune Temperature Snake CAL in my announcement post >>
Please note that Temperature Snake is a Crochet-Along (CAL) running throughout 2023, so this is not a complete pattern - yet! You'll immediately be able to download all parts of the CAL pattern that have already been published, and you'll receive updates throughout the year.
(For more details, see the Temperature Snake CAL listing.)
Yarn: worsted weight yarn in any colours you choose.
Snake Collection: For the suggested length of snake, you will need a total of approx 110 yards/100m of yarn per snake.
Temperature Snake: Yardage depends on the number of colours you choose and which size of snake you're making, but you'll definitely need less than one 50g ball of each colour.
Hook: US E / 3.5mm
Snake Collection samples are approx 26-28" (66-71cm) long, but you can make yours as long as you want by adding more repeats to the body!
Temperature Snake will be (very approximately) 7ft, 4ft or 2ft, depending on the options you choose!
Eyes: 9mm (Snake Collection, small Temp Snake), 10mm (large Temp Snake)
