My daughter (7 years old) is a ferret fanatic but it can be very hard to find nice ferret related items. When I came across this pattern (interestingly during a search for "ferret shaped cakes" on Google, I immediately bought it thinking one day I'd step up my crocheting skills and learn the craft of amigurumi. "One day" turned out to be one week later when, with the help of "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Amigurumi", I learned how to create more than just a washcloth and wound up making 3 ferrets over the course of a weekend (as well as other various creatures).
The pattern is very detailed (right down to the alignment of the head before stitching it to the body) and very easy to read and follow. It is a downloadable file to keep on your computer or print out for reference.
I was very surprised by how quickly this pattern came together - especially for an inexperienced person. I expected to be able to make a ferret for my daughter's Christmas gift but it looks as though I'll have several to choose from for her birthday next week! (and it looks more like a ferret than anything I've seen available in stores)
I am very pleased with this pattern and will definitely come back for more!
