This was my first pattern with so many colour changes. It is important not to "cheat" (and read the instructions carefully - unlike me - and knot the changing yarn ends every time) to get a final result that looks just like the original. The pattern isn't complicated although it requires concentration. But it is worth every minute. The penguin really can stand on its own - even without the supporting tail! :)
