This pattern creates a rectangular-shaped shawl (possibly a square one if one plans correctly) and works from the bottom up. I found that I heavily relied upon the instructions through most of the first segment of the scarf (middle coral piece). This pattern seems more complicated than it really is. I did have issues maintaining the proper tension and frogged mostly due to tension issues; tension is rather important in this pattern since achieving the block-diamond contrast is basically dependent upon it. The repeat sequence is several rows long, so it took me a bit to memorize, but after that it went very quickly. I would recommend to keep it in a single color or use a variegated yarn suitable for the pattern.
