s-s-s-snake!

Look who I found in my garden:

The reclusive yarn snake, finally waking from his long winter hibernation.

Although he is small (6″ long), he doesn’t fit the theme of my new set of mini animals, but this is what my hands decided to make yesterday, and I like the way he wiggles. The curves are crocheted right in – clever, huh?

The finishing touch – a tiny felt tongue.

  1. Such a nice visitor:-)
Did you really make the curves by crochet? How could you do it? I thought it has been formed after filling..

I’m guessing the curves involve increasing on one side while decreasing on the other? Love the colour of this snake! And the cat/lizard eyes!

zabacorporation, there are two ways to make crocheted curves in a piece worked in the round:

    1) Use a tall stitch (e.g. hdc) on one side and a short stitch (e.g. sl st) on the other side

    2) Increase on one side and decrease on the other

I prefer method 2 because all the stitches are single crochet, so the finished piece looks more even. (Well guessed, Wee Sandy!)
