cuddly cavy

When we were young, my sister and I got a baby guinea pig each as our first pets. Our guinea pigs were very special. Fluffy developed really cool long fur as she grew up, and Cinnamon developed a big fat tummy, which quickly turned into three more baby guinea pigs! So we ended up with a family of five:

I’ve always wanted to make something as a tribute to them, so I’ve been stealing moments (in between packing and organising for the move) to design my own crocheted guinea pig:

Up next, a longer-furred companion for this one, and then I’ll publish the Fuzzy Guinea Pig pattern. Or actually, next I should probably concentrate on moving house, and then I can start thinking about the second guinea pig!

I love your little crocheted guinea pig! I too had a guinea pig as a child – Scampi, my brother’s was Heidi and lo and behold a few weeks after we got them they both had babies – they were the cutest things I ever saw!! Your photo just reminded me of them!

This is so cute. I need to get this pattern once you publish it. I have 4 guinea pigs and I’ve wanted to crochet little replicas, but I’m no good at designing my own patterns. You did a great job on this.

Yes please, I want the pattern! I have two adorable little guinea pigs called Coco and Ellie. I just LOVE guinea pigs, their cute little ways and sweet piggy faces. Your ami version is brilliant. I have often thought about trying to design a gp but found it hard to get the shape and character just right.
