german shepherd

By popular demand, I finally designed a german shepherd (also known as an Alsatian, for any Brits reading this):

A big thanks to Kris and Kassie for your design feedback!

It’s difficult to see his nose (black on black) but you can see it’s there from the profile of the face. I also just realised that the angle of these pictures don’t really show it, but the black from the dog’s back carries over into the base of the tail.

Now to finish the patterns… AmiDogs Set 3 (Husky, Corgi & German Shepherd) should be ready to purchase (individually or as a set) within the next few days; please sign up for my mailing list if you’d like to be notified when the set is available.

Greetings from wet and cold Sheffield. Love the GSD, any chance of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel?
Nice to meet you, great blog

What do you use to STUFF your pieces? My daughter sent me a bag of polyester fiberfill last year, but it is almost gone, and I have not been able to find ANY here in the “Kingdom”. The stuff I have seems very “fuzzy” and fibers seem to leak out of the holes. Is there something better? I need to have her send me some more, and want to tell her specifically what to get. Thanks!

Jana, I use Soft-Touch Poly-Fil Supreme, but I’m sure there are other brands that are equally good.

Fiberfill will always want to expand and wiggle its way out from between stitches. Using a smaller hook than usual to keep your stitches tight and close together helps. I have also read that putting the stuffing inside a piece of old nylon stocking will stop the fiberfill from showing between the stitches (especially using a black stocking when crocheting with black yarn).

Oh dear June, you are going to think I am a right numpty! thanks for the message you sent me, it unfortunately went into my bulk folder and of course as I was deleting it, I suddenly realised who it was from….and of course I couldn’t get it back.
I would love to hear from you again.
    cheers

I’m having a heck of a time with the ears. The brown isn’t lining up correctly! Maybe I’m reading the instructions improperly because at the end, I’m ending up with 15 or more stitches per round.

Peggy: I’ve e-mailed you to ‘talk you through’ the ear instructions!
