I\u00a0hate to throw away anything that may come in handy later, but I&#8217;ve never been able to think of anything to do with the leftover bands from the bottom of trouser legs.<\/p>\n<p>This is a bit outside my comfort zone as I usually plan everything before I start a project, but I was struck by inspiration\u00a0after hemming a pair of jeans, so I decided to try to make a hairband from one of the remnants.<\/p>\n<p><a  href=\"\/blog\/images\/hairband1.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" alt=\"leftover from taking up a pair of jeans\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/hairband1.jpg\" width=\"400\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The cutoff.<\/p>\n<p><a  href=\"\/blog\/images\/hairband2.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" alt=\"hemmed raw edge\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/hairband2.jpg\" width=\"400\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I folded the raw edge over twice and hemmed it. I used black thread, so it doesn&#8217;t really show up in the photo.<\/p>\n<p><a  href=\"\/blog\/images\/hairband3.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" alt=\"start of embroidery\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/hairband3.jpg\" width=\"400\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here I have just started embroidering. I backstitched a freeform design using 4 strands of DMC embroidery cotton.<\/p>\n<p><a  href=\"\/blog\/images\/hairband4.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" alt=\"finished embroidery\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/hairband4.jpg\" width=\"400\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the finished embroidery.<\/p>\n<p><a  href=\"\/blog\/images\/hairband5.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" alt=\"bead flowers\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/hairband5.jpg\" width=\"400\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been wondering what to do with these yummy mixed berry shade beads I picked up a while ago.
