I even use compostable poop bags, and all her waste and hair clippings go straight into the green bin for composting.<\/p>\n<p>Being a white dog, she&#8217;s prone to tear stains, and the thought of buying disposable eye wipes didn&#8217;t sit well with me. And then I realised: hang on, my crocheted <a href=\"\/blog\/free-crochet-patterns\/eco-friendly-cosmetic-rounds\/\">Eco-Friendly Cosmetic Rounds<\/a> would also make perfect reuseable doggy face wipes!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/free-crochet-patterns\/eco-friendly-cosmetic-rounds\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/cosmeticrounds2.jpg\" alt=\"eco-friendly cosmetic rounds crochet pattern by planetjune\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For fun, and to tell Maggie&#8217;s wipes apart from my own, I decided to crochet her a set that matches her colours &#8211; mostly off-white with a little light brown. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/dogwipes1.jpg\" alt=\"crocheted dog face wipes by planetjune\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I used my favourite cotton yarn, KnitPicks <a href=\"https:\/\/shareasale.com\/r.cfm?b=1435396&#038;u=746874&#038;m=59159&#038;urllink=&#038;afftrack=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dishie<\/a> in Swan and Linen, and the colours are a pretty good match!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/dogwipes2.jpg\" alt=\"crocheted dog face wipes by planetjune\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And now for the moment of truth &#8211; will they work? <\/p>\n<p>I saturated a wipe in lukewarm water and squeezed it out so it wasn&#8217;t dripping. After an initial sniff test:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/dogwipes3.jpg\" alt=\"crocheted dog face wipes by planetjune\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Maggie gave it the licky seal of approval:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/dogwipes4.jpg\" alt=\"crocheted dog face wipes by planetjune\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I wiped her eyes well, and then she took over to finish the job to her exacting standards!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/dogwipes5.jpg\" alt=\"crocheted dog face wipes by planetjune\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And here&#8217;s the finished pretty face once it had dried:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/dogwipes6.jpg\" alt=\"crocheted dog face wipes by planetjune\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mission accomplished!<\/p>\n<p>As with my cosmetic rounds, I&#8217;ll toss the used wipes into a mesh laundry bag and run them through the washer and dryer with my laundry &#8211; it&#8217;s quick and easy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/free-crochet-patterns\/eco-friendly-cosmetic-rounds\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/cosmeticrounds.jpg\" alt=\"eco-friendly cosmetic rounds crochet pattern by planetjune\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>An update on my personal cosmetic rounds:<\/strong> In case you&#8217;re wondering how reuseable crocheted facial rounds hold up, I&#8217;ve used one clean round every night for 9 months.
