{"id":18720,"date":"2018-03-27T11:38:40","date_gmt":"2018-03-27T15:38:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.planetjune.com\/blog\/?p=18720"},"modified":"2019-09-18T09:11:48","modified_gmt":"2019-09-18T13:11:48","slug":"extreme-amigurumi-crochet-mega-bun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.planetjune.com\/blog\/extreme-amigurumi-crochet-mega-bun\/","title":{"rendered":"Extreme Amigurumi Crochet: Mega Bun!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I got this extreme crochet hook a few weeks ago, my first thought was to wonder if it&#8217;s possible to make an extreme amigurumi&#8230; <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/extremecrochethook.jpg\" alt=\"Extreme 25mm crochet hook, with 3.5mm crochet hook for comparison\" \/><br \/>\n<em>That&#8217;s my new size 50 (25mm\/1 inch) crochet hook, with a standard E US\/3.5mm hook for comparison&#8230; <\/em><\/p>\n<p>I raided my stash for the thickest fuzzy yarns I could find, and held three strands together as I crocheted, following my <a href=\"\/shop\/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&#038;search_in_description=1&#038;keyword=bunnies\">Baby Bunnies pattern<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And the short answer is: <strong>yes! <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/june_megabun_lg.jpg\" alt=\"Mega Bun extreme amigurumi (made from Baby Bunnies crochet pattern by PlanetJune)\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mega Bun is the softest, cuddliest bunny you can imagine. She&#8217;s so squeezably soft and her floppy ears are just adorable.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/megabun_side.jpg\" alt=\"Mega Bun extreme amigurumi (made from Baby Bunnies crochet pattern by PlanetJune)\" \/><\/p>\n<p>She measures an astounding 26&#8243; (66cm) from nose to tail &#8211; that&#8217;s almost 6 times the size of the original Baby Bunnies&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/megabun_back.jpg\" alt=\"Mega Bun extreme amigurumi (made from Baby Bunnies crochet pattern by PlanetJune)\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Her puffball tail alone is the size of two Baby Bunnies stacked on top of each other!<\/p>\n<p>The other bunnies and guinea pigs aren&#8217;t at all bothered by her size &#8211; they&#8217;ve accepted her as one of their own and are enjoying playing with (and on) their giant cousin: <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/megabun_babybunnies_guineapigs.jpg\" alt=\"Mega Bun extreme amigurumi (made from Baby Bunnies crochet pattern) with Baby Bunnies and Baby Guinea Pigs, crochet patterns by PlanetJune\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Awww! Extreme cuteness!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Now, the long answer to &#8220;can you crochet an extreme amigurumi&#8221; is more like &#8220;yes &#8211; with caveats&#8230;&#8221;, so don&#8217;t run out and buy a bunch of fuzzy yarn just yet!
