(Your gauge and yarn choice will affect the finished size slightly.)<\/p>\n<h2>Gauge<\/h2>\n<p>Gauge is unimportant for this pattern.\u00a0I like to crochet with a small hook so they aren\u2019t too floppy and there are no gaps between the stitches; if you prefer a looser, floppier look, use a G or H hook instead.<\/p>\n<h2>Notes for all blossoms<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not turn work between rounds.<\/li>\n<li>As you crochet each blossom, if you plan to stack another blossom on top or add a knotted centre, don&#8217;t pull the magic ring <strong>too<\/strong> tightly closed. This will make it easier to thread yarn through the centre of the ring when you stitch the pieces together.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Blossoms<\/h2>\n<h2>A: Small Blossom<\/h2>\n<p>To make this flower, you must be comfortable with the magic ring technique. Instead of single crocheting into the magic ring, the entire flower is crocheted directly into the ring, and then the ring is pulled tight to complete the blossom.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/tut_images\/posy_a.jpg\" alt=\"posy blossoms crochet pattern by planetjune\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Small Blossoms, L-R: <strong>A<\/strong> (plain); <strong>A<\/strong>, with knotted centre added (see <a href=\"#stacked\">Stacked Flowers<\/a>, below, for instructions)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Make a <a href=\"\/blog\/magic-ring-for-amigurumi\/\">magic ring<\/a>, ch 2.<br \/>\nRnd 1: sl st into magic ring, (ch 2, sl st into magic ring) four times.<\/p>\n<p>Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn end. Pull on the remaining loop on the hook until the cut end is drawn through to the top. Pass the end down through the centre of the magic ring, to the back. Thread the end onto a yarn needle and pass it through the same stitch as the last sl st, to the back.<\/p>\n<p>Continue to <a href=\"#ends\">Yarn Ends<\/a> (below).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a name=\"stacked\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Stacked Flowers<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/tut_images\/posy_stacked.jpg\" alt=\"posy blossoms crochet pattern by planetjune\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Stacked Flower examples, L-R: blossoms <strong>F<\/strong> + <strong>C<\/strong>; blossoms <strong>D<\/strong> + <strong>B<\/strong> + <strong>A<\/strong> + knotted centre<\/em><\/p>\n<p>To make stacked flowers, layer smaller blossoms on top of larger ones, in the same or contrasting colours.<\/p>\n<p>To keep them in position, you have two options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stitch together:<\/strong> Use the yarn ends from the top blossom to stitch down through the stack. Tie the yarn ends together on the back.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Knotted centre: <\/strong>Make a contrasting coloured centre for the flower by cutting a 6&#8243; length of yarn and tying a large knot in the centre of the length.\u00a0 Thread both ends onto a yarn needle and pass the needle through the centre of the stack to the back. Tie the ends together on the back.<br \/>\n<em><strong>Note:<\/strong> You can also give any of the flat blossoms a contrasting-coloured centre with this method!<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a name=\"bumps\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>What are the back bumps?<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/tut_images\/backbumps.jpg\" alt=\"posy blossoms crochet pattern by planetjune\" \/><br \/>\n<em>L: The front of a chain, showing the V shape of each chain stitch.<br \/>\nR: Flip the chain over and you\u2019ll see a bump at the back of each chain stitch (marked by arrow).<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Leaves<\/h2>\n<p>All leaf stitches should be worked into the <a href=\"#bumps\">back bumps<\/a> of the starting chains.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/tut_images\/posy_hi.jpg\" alt=\"posy blossoms crochet pattern by planetjune\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Leaves, L-R: <strong>H<\/strong> (single); <strong>I<\/strong> (double)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>H: Single Leaf<\/strong><br \/>\nWith green yarn, ch 6, sc in 3rd chain from hook, dc in next 2 chains, sl st in last chain.<br \/>\nCut yarn, leaving a long yarn end.<br \/>\nDraw end through last loop and pull tight to fasten off.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I: Double Leaf<\/strong><br \/>\nWith green yarn, (ch 6, sc in 3rd chain from hook, dc in next 2 chains, sl st in last chain) twice.<br \/>\nCut yarn, leaving a long yarn end.<br \/>\nDraw end through last loop and pull tight to fasten off.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Both Leaves:<\/strong> continue to <a href=\"#ends\">Yarn Ends<\/a> (below).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a name=\"ends\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Yarn Ends (all Blossoms and Leaves)<\/h2>\n<p>Tie the two yarn ends together (tie each pair together for the 2-coloured flowers). You have two options for finishing, depending on what you\u2019d like to do with your blossoms and leaves:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use the yarn ends to stitch the blossoms\/leaves into position.<\/li>\n<li>Snip the yarn ends short.
