You can use this stitch pattern to make a Wavy Stripes scarf or blanket, or a Turtle Beach square or blanket of any size you wish. (<a href=\"\/blog\/free-crochet-patterns\/turtle-beach\/\">Click here for further Turtle Beach instructions<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>This is a generic pattern, so you can make it any width you like. <strong>N<\/strong> is the number of repeats, not including the half repeat at each edge. So in the stitch diagram below, <strong>N<\/strong>=1 and the ripple has 2 complete zig-zags. (For my 10\u201d sample Turtle Beach square, I used <strong>N<\/strong>=2, so I had 3 zig-zags.)<\/p>\n<p>Make the wave pattern more prominent by changing colour after every 2 rows, keep the stitch pattern more subtle by working it all in one colour, or make a beach and sea scene by using the Turtle Beach colourways.<\/p>\n<h3>Terminology<\/h3>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"70\">ch<\/td>\n<td>chain<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"70\">dc<\/td>\n<td>double crochet (treble crochet for UK\/Aus)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"70\">dc2tog<\/td>\n<td>double crochet decrease (treble crochet decrease for UK\/Aus)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>st<\/td>\n<td>stitch<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3>Pattern<\/h3>\n<p>Ch 12x<strong>N<\/strong> + 15.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Row 1:<\/strong> dc in 4th ch from hook (unworked chains count as dc), dc in next 3 ch, dc2tog twice, (dc in next 3 ch, 2 dc in next 2 ch, dc in next 3 ch, dc2tog twice) <strong>N<\/strong> times, dc in next 3 ch, 2 dc in last ch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Row 2:<\/strong> all stitches are worked in <strong>back loops only<\/strong>: ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, dc in same st, dc in next 3 st, dc2tog twice, (dc in next 3 st, 2 dc in next 2 st, dc in next 3 st, dc2tog twice) <strong>N<\/strong> times, dc in next 3 st, 2 dc in last st.<\/p>\n<p>Repeat Row 2 until your piece is as long as you want.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Changing colour:<\/strong> Change colour after any multiple of two rows, so there will always be a rib on the right side of the blanket at the colour change.
