Thanks, Doug! The commissioned patterns do sell once they are up in the shop - I'd have to charge much more for pattern commissions otherwise, as the commission price is nowhere near enough to compensate me for the time that goes into creating one of my designs. Commissioned designs don't tend to sell massive quantities immediately, but they're steady sellers: whenever someone looks for a pattern for that specific animal in future, my pattern will be there, near the top of the Google results, waiting for them :)

Congratulations!
It's trebly impressive that you're doing your own programming -on-top-of- all the other stuff! Scary, actually. :-) But I think your focus on automation is absolutely the right way to go; codifying your own knowledge as automatic minions!

My favorite business thing you did was setting up your commissions system. I'm curious to know if those patterns sold well after the commission was completed or if you captured the majority at the time the commission was completed.

Rock on for 2013!

Thanks, Jaime - sorry you're suffering too. I hope it doesn't migrate to your face; it's miserable feeling so disfigured. But I know I'm stuck with this condition, so I won't let it ruin my life - I'm just avoiding mirrors and concentrating on my crochet designs until I get over this bout :)

Sorry about the lumpy itchy bits, June... I so empathize. Mine has been slowly migrating from my hands to my arms to my legs; thankfully this stuff seems to go away with the steroid cream, although I used it for the bare minimum (scary stuff). Hope it clears up for you soon!! - Jaime

Jessica, thank you for the advice, and I'm so glad the Eucerin helped you. I think mine must be different though - I get itchy painful lumps everywhere, not dry or cracked skin. I had to see a dermatologist as it was so bad, and he prescribed me really strong steroid creams which help, but even the strongest steroid takes days to make any difference when it's bad, and weeks to clear it up fully. I got a new bout last night, and I look hideous today! Starting the year as a swollen lumpy mess wasn't exactly what I had in mind for 2013, but I guess I'm stuck with ugly-face for a couple of weeks now, until the steroid cream does its thing...

Hey, I've been a long time reader of your blog, and I just noticed your comment about having Excema. After I had my baby I developed excema on my fingertips (which given that I type for a living was REALLY ANNOYING.) and my palm, and it just got worse and worse. Anyway I tried a lot of stuff but this past week I asked a pharmacist for advice and she said to try Eucerin. I got their intensive healing lotion and have been using it every few hours. My fingers are 95% healed. They're still dry but they don't hurt or crack as long as I use it fairly often. Anyway knowing how painful that can be I thought I had to tell you if you haven't tried that lotion already, please try it. I don't actually know what country you're in right now but if you can get ahold of it I hope it will help you as much as it did me. If you can't find it email me and I will mail you some. :)

Happy New Year! :)
